TRACID presented at Digital Solutions for Circularity Info Day in Istanbul
On November 28, 2024, EcoWise hosted the Digital Solutions for Circularity Info Day, an event dedicated to exploring how digital transformation can accelerate the shift toward a circular economy. The event brought together 150 key company stakeholders from Turkey’s textile, steel, and construction industries, as well as policy makers from three Turkish ministries and sector associations. Presentations centered around the latest regulations, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and the linked Digital Product Passport, and opportunities for sustainability and circularity.
One of the most significant takeaways was the need for Turkey to align with the EU regulations in relation to circular economy policies and product information digitisation using DPPs. Panelists from the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and Ministry of Industry and Technology stated that they are preparing legislative efforts to comply with obligations brought by EU regulations such as CBAM and ESPR. EcoWise’s DPP solution TRACID was demonstrated to the 150 head audience, showcasing its possibilities in managing product information across the product life cycle to comply with future EU regulations.
The event concluded with a networking session, reinforcing the need for stronger partnerships to advance digitisation for Turkey’s businesses. The consensus was clear: digital solutions will be the backbone of a circular economy, and Turkey has a key role to play given the significance of its textile, steel and construction sectors. Most importantly, given the EU is Turkey’s primary trading partner, the country needs to become a leader in sustainable innovation by leveraging digital tools, data-driven decision-making, and regulatory alignment with EU standards.
The event was organised as part of the EU funded CircThread project, www.circthread.com, an EU funded project wherein 30 partners have been working on developing strategies for circular product information management in the last four years.
