Large scale DPP pilot for electronics in CIRPASS-2

Cirpass-2 Pilot TRACID DPPs

In a significant move towards enhancing product sustainability and transparency, EcoWise and Gorenje-Hisense have partnered to pilot Digital Product Passports (DPPs) using the TRACID solution for tumble dryers under the CIRPASS-2 project. This initiative aims to revolutionize how end-of-life appliances are managed by integrating DPPs that record comprehensive lifecycle data, including usage history, repairs, and component replacements. By starting with over 5,000 tumble dryers from Gorenje, the pilot seeks to streamline processes such as refurbishment, in warranty repair, and spare parts recovery.

The collaboration brings together key industry players: EcoWise serves as the DPP-as-a-Service provider, Gorenje as the original equipment manufacturer, and Hisense Europe oversees system integration and after-sales data management. A unique aspect of this pilot involves thousands of consumers who will test and provide feedback on TRACID DPP service circularity features, ensuring that the system is user-friendly and meets consumer expectations.

This pilot is part of the broader CIRPASS-2 flagship Digital Product Passports project, funded by the European Union, which aims to demonstrate the practical application of DPPs across various industries in 13 pilots. By focusing on real-world settings, CIRPASS-2 seeks to validate the functionality and scalability of DPPs, paving the way for their widespread adoption in promoting a circular economy.
